Met with Ken today

I went out to his shop and dropped of my 30K mile motor that he is installing in my truck. He is currently working on Dave's Powerstroke. He had a piston skirt break off so Ken pulled the motor fixed the problem, and now is upgrading it some more. That thing should flat out SCREAM when he get's it back.

It should be done by the Mon or Tuesday, when it is, Dave and I will bring out My truck, towing the 94 Turbo Diesel that my old motor is going in, and Ken will start on that project. Then we will take Dave's truck home. Should be a fun ride!

Yeah... I talked to Ken awhile back about redoing my IDI when it finally goes or when I have the cash... whichever comes first.

13 second quarter mile out of an IDI? Not bad...

I'd like that to be in the 12s...

Good one, wished I could get one done up from Ken myself as I had also talked with him the other day about studs and an air stuffer for the Beef before I pulled the heads.

Darrin yer gonna have to get ahold of me when you get that beast done cause after talking this morning it now has my attention for a cruise.

He is a GREAT guy to chat diesels with. a fountain for powerful IDI knowlege.. I wished I still had the dough for a twin turboed IDI.. I was a few days late with finding out how much it would cost.. I had the money saved up for a new trailer to pull the Jeep on and get my HG's done. So I bought the trailer, and a few days later Ken dropped that bomb (no pun intended) on me. I could have forgone the trailer, and got the twin turboed monster and continued borrowing a trailer for a little while. Man, 300HP in an IDI at the REAR Wheels... That would be a MONSTER. Scotty

Can you elaborate on the oil pump. More volume? Pressure? Where does he get them?

I believe that in the PSD the injection system is driven by high oil pressure so they have an oil pump sitting on top of the engine that drives the injectors. I would almost bet that is the pump he is talking about not the oiling system gear pump that feeds oil to the bearings.

Travis your Correct,.. You win,.......nothing, sorry.

It is for his 97 Powerstroke. He installed Baby Swamp Injecters last year. The problem is that since they are driven by oil pressure, the stock oil pimp wouldn't keep up on a HARD run. The check engine light would come on because of a loss of oil pressure. To fix that Ken is installing a High Pressure Oil Pump (HPOP) from a 99 and up superduty. That will handle the extra oil needed to run the HYPO injectors.

The broke skirt was from a previons problem that he had last year. His Propane Injection System malfunctioned because of a new tank that he was trying out. It dumped a little Liquid Propane and blew a head gasket on a hard run.

Dave did the new head gaskets himself (with a little grunt help from me). At that time he installed the Baby Swamp Injectors and did a few other upgrades.

Ken seems to think that the piston took a hit and the skirt cracked a little when that happened. It was the same piston that the HG blew. A month ago the PSD developed a knock in the motor. We thought it was a rod bearing, and didnt know any different untill Ken took the motor apart.

Good thing he stoped driving it because if the piston broke apart, it could have taken out the block.

Still getting used to some the High HP guys mixed in here with the Incredibles.

our trucks don't rely on pressure as much as volume. If you got a spike in pressure compared to what you are used to seeing, you have impending doom.
