Low fuel pressure, poor performance

And fuel pressure makes a big difference. I lost my mechanical lift pump a couple of years back and though the truck ran, it ran like crud. Though at the time I was using a bed mounted tank that would gravity feed into the IP, so it ran. But a new pump later and the truck ran decently again.

Our injection pumps have an internal pump in them. Its a very small vane pump in the nose just after the screen type filter. It will draw some fuel but generally not enough to make the truck run very well. I feel its enough to get you off the road and to a safe place. Running it very long like that will probably damage the pump because the fuel passing thru it acts as a lube and a coolant along with a fuel sourse for the engine. Interesting how the fuel needs to do three things to make the engines run...
