I'm going to thank you all beforehand for your help. I am the proud owner of my first idi diesel, 89 Ford F350 Crew Cab. I bought it and have done all of the u joints, drivelines, and rebuilt the front diff since there is only 60k on a dealer crate motor. It also came with the ATS 088 turbo kit. I loved this thing right up until the y collector really began leaking and after putting this thing up on the lift, I found the collector is cracked. Severely. Everyone tells me this thing is going to be a beast to weld so I have been looking for a collector and nothing!I have been looking for used kits and parts but have come up with jack! This thing is just tying up my bay while I struggle to find the part HELP! If there is anyone that has a collector for sale or could steer me in the direction of where I might get one, that would be awesome. Thanks again for all your help and I look forward to posting. I would also consider buying a whole kit just to get the collector out of it. Thanks for all your help guys!

what is going to be so beasty about welding the crack? preheat, weld, ping out, you will need nickel rods, take it to a weld shop, they will know exactly what to do with it

Welcome to the forum.. I'm not sure if the material is cast iron or cast steel. Either one can be welded but it takes special prep and rod doing it both ways. So Russ has one and you may even try calling ATS. They may have a new one but calling is what wont hurt a thing. ?At least Russ came forwards with what you need.:thumbsup:

Gary,

I for some reason Highly doubt that ATS has any remaining parts LOL on the other hand, I highly suspect RUSS has all the old ATS parts:sly obsolescence is something companies face and supporting old iron just isn't profitable after a point...nickle n dime parts...DOH!

I have tried to pm but don't know if it worked. I visited local welding shop that specializes in cast iron. Tha is what the collector is made of. Since someone else tried to weld it before, it is now going to be expensive. Therefore I am looking to purchase a used collector if that is a possibility.

I just wanted to say thanks to typ4 for getting me the part that I needed. Really got me out of a pinch. I can't appreciate it enough. I love this forum already and can't wait to post some pictures of the truck I am putting back together.

Glad Russ could help you out. This is why this site and forum is so successful on the web. Members helping members. When I was invited to join I wondered why I was invited because I was "just another owner" and.. I was from another site. I joined and liked what I felt so I stayed. I tried to keep both sites going but I finally had all I could take from a member and left never to return. I miss a few of those great members but many of them came here. I don't do the popular thing but I do the correct thing. Its a life style. Not a popularity contest. Sometimes the truth is not what a person wants to hear but it has to be said. It can be said in a manor thats not hurtful too. For me its a great feeling to help someone fix a problem and when I have to say its not fixable .. Well that a tuff one. nobody wants to hear they have to pul the heads to remove a broken champion or autolite glow plug. But sometimes it has to be said. When someone like Russ has the only part or ability to help another thats a good day. Same with Mel. They are good at what they do because they have whats needed by the mass.
