...coming home from work this evening i hit a redlight and a XJ pulled into the other lane next to me. we both just caught it so we were rollin about 15 mph. i heard him take off like a bat outta hell so i pinned it and started to row through the gears.

he had me in second and half of third but after that i was pullin hard until i hit 4th and then i was walkin on him about 2 truck lenghts. what suprised me was i saw i was actually smokin pretty good (dark gray). havent seen it smoke like that since last summer when i was messin around. i only have the pump turned up two flats and it never smokes under normal driving.

in his defense the XJ was on 35s LOL.

next time i see my friend in his 89 F250LD im gunna try to race him because he thinks his truck is top dog with a factory rebuilt 302.

Mel.. An XJ is the type of Jaguar. They came in XJ6 with a 6 cylinder motor and XJ12 with a 12 cylinder motor. The cars were 2 or 4 door sedans. My wife had an XJ12L sedan... It was hell to work on that motor....

I'd love to see a Jag on 35s :D Jeep Cherokee is correct in this situation, but Gary is right too, XJ is also an older Jaguar model.

If it was my XJ you wouldnt have fallen behind at all. With the NP435 1st gear is only good till about 4mph and shifting between gears is not a task to be rushed. The only way my jeep would be considered the fast one is if Im going up a slick, rocky steep hill and am competing against a chevy or dodge :)
