Probably not gonna do it on this hodgepodge of an engine but I was wondering if typ4’s torque cam is a worthy upgrade. I am hoping to get this truck to run pretty decent, and get the brakes patched up, and then probably sell it and buy a nicer IDI. Might would like to get a torque cam for that engine, just wondering if they are worth the $450

My answer would be that it depends...on a lot of things. If it's going to be N/A, then yes it is. If you're going to turbo it, then, once again, it depends. If you're going for big boost numbers, then probably not since you'll be running it at higher RPM more often. If you have a stock (as sold in kit form) wastegated turbo system, maybe, maybe not. If you're going to do a lot of low RPM pulling, then it may well be worth it. If you're going to run a stock non wastegated turbo, then I'd think most definitely so.

Although the ATS kits make more power, I’m starting to like the Hypermax kit. Very simple. Banks kits seem expensive, and difficult to get parts for. The ATS truck I’ve been around most is very cumbersome to work on. I think I like the Hypermax. Not as much power, but I’m still a fan. Wonder what an intercooled Hypermax 7.3 would be like. Probably would satisfy me.

Passenger side head and this ****. ************ did that make me mad. Probably why I was having flywheel issues. Pressure plate surface was bad, along with flywheel surface. Clutch disk was ****** too. Truck got new clutch just before I bought it. Nice to see it was done as crappily as possible. Id like to strangle the ******* who did that.

No pics of bottom end as of yet but rings and bearings as well as bores look pretty good. Still worthy of a rebuild. Couple pistons are a bit rough.

What befuddles me is that the rings looked pretty good, but it has pretty bad blow by. I must not be a very good judge of rings. Although it looks like oil is getting to the combustion chambers on the passenger side. That could cause blow by as well.

These trucks just have a lot of blow by. Thats just the way the rings are even when they are in good shape. some guys put in new rings that seal way better, I am blanking on the name right now, total seal or something like that. Suppose to cut the blow by way down. I dont know if there are any draw backs.

The 6.9 doesn’t mind a bit more ether, but that 7.3 ether locks pretty easily. It requires the cans that put out more of a mist than a spray.

I have a d19 Allis Chalmers that came factory with the ether shot setup also. I believe it takes the tall can though, not sure on that as this tractor is a basket case. I just saw the can holder in the pile of parts.

That drivers side sure has a lot of carbon wiping to it. Are there snapped off bolts in the flywheel mating area?

Yeah it seems to have quite a bit of carbon buildup. Three out of nine bolts are snapped off where the flywheel bolts to the crank.-cuss:backoff:frustrate:puke::smash::***::idiot::shoot:
