running errands this morning and my clutch popped then made strange noises when i used it. got home and found that the area where the clutch master bolts into the firewall has several cracks. i got under there and braced the area with washers and angle iron.

then when i pushed on the clutch the rod from the pedal to master bent. no idea why that happened.

Sounds like it to me. Might try contacting Jason who makes these repair plates thru his CDC Plasma cutter table. What he makes and sells is worth every penny of what it costs. So far nobody that has bought and installed them has had a complaint so he must be doing it right. BTW his plates are cheaper than the Ford repair plates as I recall.

whats the proper way to adjust the push rod that goes between the pedal and master? my pedal stops before it hits the floor. im thinking thats why the rod bent and also pushed the master off the firewall

Ford made a kit for this too E3TZ-7K509-A I believe is the small kit and -B is the large kit (larger brace, may not be installable with trans in? I forget). Anyhow, I put the small kit in my truck when it cracked and it worked fine for several years and still good. I think it was $25-ish.

Some pushrods are adjustable, some are not. I think most of the original Ford masters are not adjustable. I think someone said Napa sold a replacement that came with an adjustable pushrod.

What I did with mine was cut the rod with a hacksaw, and then ran a die over the shaft of the clutch master(held it with vise grips) and then ran a die over the short piece that went to the clutch pedal arm. If I remember right a 3/8-16 die ran over it and made perfect threads. I then went to the store and bought a coupler nut. These are really long hex nuts that are used to join pieces of all-thread together when using it to hang pipe from the ceiling. I used it to join the pieces back together with a thin nut on one end to lock the adjustment.

This gave me a little more pedal height, but it might not work in your case if you want the pedal travel to be shorter. It sounds like something else is wrong with your system. I wonder if something is hanging up down at the slave.

This is a downstream problem. Fix the high pedal effort first. Pull your clutch fork and inspect the transmissions input sleeve for galling and proper lubrication.

ive pulled the fork and greased its pivot and the throw out bearing slides nice.but when i got the truck 2 yrs ago the clutch took 2 feet to push. i assume it was damaged before i bought it and it finally gave up.
