Blown head gasket or cracked head???

What's wrong with throwing a new set of heads on it? How many miles are on the rebuilt bottom end with new rings, pistons, bearings etc?

My current engine has only 150,000 miles on it. That’s the biggest tragedy. The engine should have lasted waaaaaaaaay longer. The original owner said he has it warrantied at 90,000 miles. I think that’s where the oversized pistons and sleeves came from.

When you say a good used engine you’re referring to buying another truck with a solid engine and swapping the engines right not a remanufactured engine correct?

I meant just to buy a used engine off of FB marketplace of you can. I don’t know about your area, but around me there are always a couple for sale for $300-600. They probably won’t be turbo, but you can swap all the turbo stuff over.

I didn't know you had cracked pistons.

At least in my area there is no shortage of cheap 7.3 IDI engines on FB Marketplace and often times you can get the whole truck for not much more.

I see them around here for fairly cheap too. Both "around here" and "cheap" are relative terms. Sometimes, I see them for $500-$600. Other times people want $1200+. It's all a matter of constant searching. People wonder how I find good deals on things. I just tell them that I just keep looking. If I find a good deal, I reply ASAP and I am sure to have the money ready to go before I reply. Sometimes I get the deal, sometimes not.

I don’t know about your area, but around me there are always a couple for sale for $300-600.

In this area, a $300 - $600 engine is ALWAYS garbage
