Got the new injectors put in finally and it runs great but that knock is still there have no idea what it could be from praying its not a rod. It will come and go wondering if it could be the lift pump anyone have any ideas.

I have a similar knock. I did my IP, Injectors and lift pump, and nothing has resolved it. Pain in my ass man.

I installed a oil pressure gauge and the oil press these IDIs put out is pretty sad, and I am starting to wonder if that's the problem. However I have not seen anything about guys putting high pressure oil pumps in so it makes wonder if they even exist.

Other than that I am willing to bet it's a lifter or rocket arm, but I really don't want to tear into the head.

We'll know next week if it's anything in the head as mine has that same annoying tick yours has.

No high pressure oil pumps are available for these engines. Increaseing the oil pressure is all we can do. And that takes some interesting know how. Not something I would teel everyone they must do it. Our pumps put out volume and not pressure. At warm idle we see usually a low looking number if you have an after market gauge. Usually 15 to 25 lbs. They usually run lower than that. The factory dash gauge is a simple idiot lite with a pointer. It tells you the engine has at least 7 lbs of oil pressure. Nothing more. If the needle swings over to the "L" in normal that means nothing more than 7 lbs so don't think your actually seeing more oil pressure readingon the oem gauge.Get an after market gauge and see the ture pressures. Same with the coolant temp. they are painfully not accurate so get an oem coolant gauge and be sure ofwhats going on.
As for the knocking sound after installing DPS injectors.... :dunno:sly

Its really difficult to point you at something that is your knock problem. If the injectors were pop tested and none of them leaked and you still have a knock...:dunno Its hard to say why the noise is still with you. Any exhaust line hitting the cab metal or frame will make a noise.Even the new best injector can be problematic. The plant that makes the delphi injectors in mexico has apiss poor quality comtrol dept. Sure wish I know where they are or who they buy the new parts from.I would be strating up a new injector business in short order. It would be great to actually be standing by your truck listening to the knock noise but..... Thats only a wish... Continue to isolate the sound and post back for assistance.

If it is in fact coming from the engine and you can't get er figured, bump the injection timing back just a hair and see what happens.

Not to be stupid or anything but how do I go about doing that.

There are 3 nuts that hold the injection pump to the housing....loosen them and slightly turn the top of the injection pump towards the drivers side of the vehicle to retard and towards the passenger side to advance.
Do this with the engine off and no need to even touch the injection lines to move the pump such a small amount. But its a good idea to make a reference mark on the pump housing before you move the pump so you have something to go back to if if don't work or gets worse.

But again, I would wait till you eliminate every other possibility before you do this as this is the "hillbilly" way to time a diesel; it should be done with a timing meter (which is pricey)
