Injector replacement MPG's average gain?

I'm replacing my injectors on my 93 f-250 with I/H rebuilt injectors (new stanadyne tips) from Russ. My truck has 230K+ miles on the original injectors and gets 18 mpgs going just under 70 mph with my new 235 tires on her. What if any mpg improvement can you expect when you replace your injectors? I would think you would get a mpg or two.

I'd think at that speed, pushing that truck it would be moderate not 1-2 MPG but perhaps 1/4 MPG...I would think you would get a better running engine but I would not expect much of an increase myself.

Agreed. Doubt you would see any measurable increase in MPG. Probably will loose a little since your right foot is going to trigger a much higher pleasure response when you find out how much better the truck gets up and moves when you want it to...



I have found out that almost nothing that can be done on these trucks will increase the MPG they can deliver. I averaged 18 MPG with the factory turbo 7.3 with old injectors and pump, same with new injectors and pump, same with 6.9 with old injectors and pump. I now get 18 MPG with the 6.9 with new injectors and pump. Obviously adding an overdrive or shaving weight will help, but those are big undertakings.

I have come to terms with the fact that "it is what it is" I may not sip fuel as slow as I want to, but the old truck gets me where I want to go and looks damn good doing it.

Expecting a gian is not revelant but knowing what you have is really telling too. You have a worn out set of injecters. Thats a given. Is the pump in the same mileage condition or is it differant. You will need to time the engine after the injecter replacement. Any pump or injecter change requires us to time these engines. Guessing at it wont get you there but its driveable just the same..

Yeah , it will be timed after the injectors are replaced. I'm going to document my mpg's real well between now and when I do the install and we'll see if there is any difference. I know the injectors have to be pretty worn. I usually drive her at 60 mph but had to go to the airport in the big city so I decided to get tires while I was there. the mpg's were from the return trip, about 120 miles, not a big sampling. My work route is very consistent and there is never traffic or anything so should be a pretty fair comparison once I get the numbers.
