Agreed. Doubt you would see any measurable increase in MPG. Probably will loose a little since your right foot is going to trigger a much higher pleasure response when you find out how much better the truck gets up and moves when you want it to...
I have found out that almost nothing that can be done on these trucks will increase the MPG they can deliver. I averaged 18 MPG with the factory turbo 7.3 with old injectors and pump, same with new injectors and pump, same with 6.9 with old injectors and pump. I now get 18 MPG with the 6.9 with new injectors and pump. Obviously adding an overdrive or shaving weight will help, but those are big undertakings.
I have come to terms with the fact that "it is what it is" I may not sip fuel as slow as I want to, but the old truck gets me where I want to go and looks damn good doing it.
