Unfortunately I am currently a mechanic missing a tool, my scan tool busted and is out for repair. I have a 96 powerstroke in the shop with a dead cylinder and need to do an injector kill test to find which cylinder has died. Does anyone know if there is a safe way to do this test without a scan tool?
P.S. Have already tested solenoids and they are all good and wiring is good.
could also be ICM, but again, no scanner.

With valve covers off and the engine running, look for the injector not exhausting any oil or very little compared to the others. Or un plug them one at a time to see which one makes the least ammount of difference in the way it runs.

thank you for the answer that did work great, I was hoping for something a little less messy but whatever gets the job done is fine with me.
