injection pump questions

I have been meaning to ask this for some time now. Over the years, there have been a few threads posted about shakey idle problems.
Hammerdown had his pump issues and seems to have solved them with the moose, my issue is not yet solved.
The last time I had my truck in to get the timing set, the shop told me that there is no way that one of these rotary type db2's can cause an issue like that, I didnt buy the story. Then I called another big shop here and was told the same thing.
I know my truck ran fine when I bought it and never had a problem until I started throwing on these rebuilt pumps. The last shop that I took my truck to says I must have a lifter that is acting up after the truck warms up but I told them on cold days even at full operating temp that the truck idles much better, it seems to only get worse as the fuel and engine compartment gets hot, such as a warm or hot day.
So what I would really like to know is, are they full of crap when they say these pumps cant idle like that? What is it in these pumps that can cause the bad idle issue?
Just curious if these shops know what they are talking about, or if they are just blowing me off. Thanks

Where did you get the pump thats on the truck now... Do you run any fuel additive like Howes or stanadyne Proformance formula....

The pump thats on the truck now came from a local shop, I have run cleaners through it and it hasnt helped. Last week I put it in reverse to back up and after I tapped the throttle, it died. I ran some cleaner through and all was fine and then it did it again tonight when I left work.
I have to drive it to Big bear next weekend and I know the tree huggers will be hating me when I start it up in the mornings, smoke n choke!
I still have a pensacola turbo pump in the garage sitting in a box, that pump ran real bad on the truck. I may send it to Mel or send another one that I have sitting out there, which is a non turbo pump.

thats the other thing id check, timing, i adjusted my timing just a little and it started where as before it would run really rough. id check that out too.

I dont know where it's at now, I have had it properly timed twice by two different shops but I think they set it too retarded because it was gutless both times, I have it slightly advanced now.
The truck starts great and hauls ass like no ones business but it smokes like hell when cold and has that annoying shake at idle that I've been ******* about for so long.

I've had the timing all over the place with every pump I've used, even the last place that timed it for me said it cant be the pump, they dont do that, gotta be a bad lifter he said.

I could probably do that. I'ts not that it sounds bad, as much as the annoying vibration and shaking at idle.
People sit in my truck and say "gee this thing runs like ****"

Ive had a pump cause a rough idle. At times would be real limpy on one hole but even when it wasnt limpy, i never sounded right. Sounded like a stroker with a big tune no matter where the timing was. Found a used pump at the salvage yard one day, guy wanted 25 for it and I talked him down to ten, put it on and it ran like brand new.

Exactly where I'm at! What baffles me is that I've had three different pumps on there, one from a different source than the other two and they all ran bad.
The two from pensacola were worse than the one I have on there now but it still aint right.

What I would still like to know, as per my first question, is what in these pumps can cause shakey idle? Why do I have people here telling me that it's not possible?
