When I did mine, I broke the old ones by bending them. Pretty brittle.
Oh and look at the oil filter mount surface. Specifically the oil bypass valve. If it has a snap ring holding it in, your golden. If not, I'd probably try to find the updated one. When I had mine out doing the orings, I noticed something was up, well the early models just had the header dimpled around the valve. In time it can come loose. Mine was gone. So I had to run it the way it was til the next weekend and swapped a updated one in.
