Nothing like squeezing thru a toll booth at 126 feet long with 2 pivot points. know where you're going cause you aint backin up!

I love those big tow trucks.....they are a cross between the altimate semi truck and a utility truck....lots of lights and chrome!

thats 50 feet longer than what I am used to but whats this garbage about 2 piviots points and not being able to back up christ even a semi tanker with a pup is still able to back up ifm ya know what yer doing I thinky thats 3 pivot points drive tankers you'll learn how to back up real quick or you'll be looking for a new job hauling a ****** van I can remember being 10 or 11 years old and working summers for my dad and he wouldn't let me drive the trucks forward only backward and with a truck trailer it can be a little snotty sometimes, I'll never forget the day I hit a trailer and poked a hole in the thing and oil started pouring out on the ground I thought I was in deep doo doo but my grampa was there and saved my bacon and told my old man that he ****** up so many trucks learning how to drive that he had better not lay a finger on me, thanks gramps !!

Backing up is one thing, backing up a tow truck with a tractor and trailer attached through a toll booth that is 12" wider than the whole assembly is another. Of course it can be done but who the hell wants to when you dont have to!

What I meant was, you dont really want to miss a turn or go down a dead end street, because you are not going to have much luck backing up and turning around, unless you have a whole lot of room. I suppose you farmers can do it, maybe if you got a hundred acre field to do it in. Trust me, its way harder than it looks. I backed up a North American 160 sleeper with a 53 footer across an empty parking lot, and it was a nightmare. My boss backed the same rig around a 90 degree turn and thru a 16 foot gate. I was pretty damn impressed. I back straight jobs and trailers up to loading docks or into garage bays all the time, no big deal, but having two pivot points, the under lift and the fifth wheel, make them respond a little funny. Hey, if any of you guys are that good at backing up multiple trailers, my hats off to you.
you know, many of the bigger terminals dont let drivers back up to the docks anymore, they either have their own guy do it or they drop trailer and do it with a yard horse. Either way, a lot of OTR freight guys I meet can't back up to save their life. A lot of them dont need to know how.
