Say what?!?!
I got all the parts cleaned/replaced (Whichever was needed) to get the hob/rotor back on, after the ball joint replacement. I repacked the bearings and installed the inner spindle nut. I torqued it to 50ft lbs, backed it off, re-torqued it to 35ft lbs and then backed it off again. I then tightened it enough, to get any slop out of the hub/rotor. When I put the lock washer in, the pin was between two of the holes. I backed the spindle nut just enough, to allow it to go in the next hole. I put the outer spindle nut on and torqued it to about 65ft lbs.
I slid the hub lock assembly in and got the retaining ring into the groove, inside the hub. When I went to put the snap ring around the axle stub shaft, I noticed that the groove for it wasn't visible. The hub lock assembly is fully seated inside the hub.
Could it be something as simple as pushing the shaft further through, from the other side?(I didn't even think to try that, while I was out there.) Or is it something else?
