when i got my 12 valve in april the previos owner would start it by pumping the throttle, when i went for the safety the mechanic told me that it needed a TPS (Flipple??) while waiting for the part the lift pump died, we fixed both and the starting got better, but it is bad again. when i start it in the morning it fires right up all i do is turn the key and it idles fine, when I shut it down to load (30-80 minutes) i have to pump the throttle lightly (to restart) or else it just doesn't catch, there is no point in trying to restart it within 10 minutes of shut down but the longer I wait the better it starts. It performs better with a full tank, but not by alot. other than this its great, and i love the shift into overdrive

Its just a thought but, have you checked the shut off solenoid? Mine was acting all funny and causing hard starting issues. There is a thread in here some where about using a Ford solenoid instead of the cummins one. Saves big $$$ from what I remember.
