Hey I just got this 93 diesel and the headlights have been acting up since I got it, so I knew i needed a new switch and I needed todo the headlight mod. I have been searching around and I found the running light mod that is the companion to the headlight mod, where is the headlight mod, any links would be helpful.

In the process of switching the switch i found that the current clipin connecter has already started to fry, most of the ones I have been finding in bone yards are fried too, anyone know where I can get a new one, or atleast one that has not been fried. Also where can i get a new knob for it.

Thanks

Go to the FAQ section here , scroll down for the article w/ links.

NAPA may sell 'em, but I got my switch and connector from the dealer.

I ordered a kit from Summit.
The day I ordered they were on sale for $20.50, it was a good deal I thought.
You can find the kits here at Summit.
Comes with relays wiring and plugs, no wires to cut. It was an easy install.
The only thing I changed was to put a couple mini fuses in line.
Here is link to picture of kit layed out on floor before install. I used a 7.5 amp fuse for
low beams & 10 amp for the high beam. If you want both low & high at same
time you can just jump the two relays together.

Be careful of doing that on the 87 and later (plastic headlights) they can/will melt! :)

I don't know personally but that was also one of my concerns so I elected for
the conventional one beam at a time.
TheWhiter Whites, Brighter Brights mod is a both beams at the same time mod by
using a toggle switch to force the low beam. I suppose with short period use
it may be OK.

Ok, well i dont think i need to run the high beams and low beams together b/c before i changed the switch the low beams were so bright i would have people flashing their brights at me thinking i had my brights on. they really got a blast when i hit the hi-beams, I dunno what they are like now have not been out at night yet, still got the dash apart trying to get the 30lbs of dirt and dust out of there from the po.

I just want to fix the fried connector and keep it from happening again, plus it would be nice to boost up the power for the marker lights since I plan todo a lot of towing with this rig. so is the running light mod from the technical articles the only thing i need then. I will have to call the stealership and see how much its gonna kill me to get that connector and knob. might have to wing it for a while with the silver knob and with the fried connector, i got a fire extinguiser on board cookoo

Summit shows five different part numbers for their headlight relay kit. Does it matter which one to use with stock headlight bulbs? This mod is my to do list.

Think it depends on bulb installed; my 90 F350 has 9004's so I got that kit.
The different bulbs probably take a different socket. Check what bulb you use
and get that kit. I don't know much about the sockets and bulbs, I've just
graduated to late model vehicles a couple years ago. My daily drivers were
a 55 F100 and a 64 Falcon convertible.
It was easy to install works great. I hung the solenoids in front of passenger
side battery. I tig welded a flat strap with a hole in it to the mount that came
with the kit so the solenoids were parallel to battery
(not necessary, sometimes I get carried away)
There was already a threaded hole on the radiator core support.
