I've been looking to do the group 31 battery swap, then I ran across this. Anybody have a clue what this is, and why it costs so much?

Is it like a mini nuclear reactor or something?

You ain't kidding.
I guess by it being an "ultra-capacitor" battery, it will hold a higher charge for a longer period of time?

-Drool-Drool Two of those would be worth more than the rest of my truck! Theoretically, you would never have to buy batteries again. I considered a super-capacitor battery for my motorbike, but I went with the cheaper lead acid battery. Not because it was cheaper, but because I could get it the same day.

I suppose you could always build your own...

No. Capacity is as listed. Super-caps charge back up VERY quickly. And drain just as
quickly. Mainly used for high-current assist to more normal battery types, or for
applications that only require a high-current pulse to operate. IDI's are not in that
category, unless everything is optimal :)

Yep. They work great for intermittent high current draw situations. You can get away with a much smaller battery if it is essentially just charging the cap.
