Then why do auto transmissions have filters? They have gears made of the same material as manuals, should be alright to let their gears do the crushing too, right?

The only thing I want between my gears is oil film. Also the crushed debris form an excellent abrasive powder for things like bearings too. Yeah no, I like nice and clean fluid, a magnet goes a long way to help with that but a filter still would be nice. Course that would also require a pump of some sorts... Oh, hello ZF6

I used a MAGNEFINE filter (the real one made in Australia) in my transmission return line from a new larger auxiliary cooler.

THANKS! I hadn't thought about that, (I think the listing said "automotive") and I've studied yacht design and boat building extensively- Wanted to get a degree in it (Mechanical Engineering degree with minor in Small Craft Design - (Small Craft = under 150 feet- over that length is considered a 'ship'). My main interest was displacement hulls/ocean sailing yachts - planned to build one, 50+ feet with aluminum hull and basically live on it while travelling the world. ME degree- too much calculus for my liking. Other obsessions later on took over.

A few days ago I was watching drag race boats (prop driven) on YouTube and learned a lot in the comments. Quite interesting and those are incredibly fast on water for those distances.

Have two of these..

One with a handle painted YELLOW...specifically for coolants only

One with non painted handle for oils and other fluids.

I CAN STICK PREASSURE WASHER WAND IN CLEAN IT OUT SWISH WITH METHYL HYDRATE AND USE TO PUMP CLEAN OIL INTO TCASE OR DIFFS ETC....

Mostly both are primarily used as extractors..but love em...stick the suck hose in yer dipstick tub draw out most oil...golden.
