golden rod filter

Anyone ever use this filter? Im looking for a removeable bowl filter that can trap sediment.

This one is cheap and so are the filter. Its 10 micron,

I have read several members run the goldenrod filters. No complaints either about them.

I have a GoldenRod filter mounted on the frame rail under my driver's door. It's actually a filter/water separator. It has presented absolutely no problems.

I'm running my fuel through three filters. The carrier pump has an 80 micron filter. Then comes the GoldenRod filter, at 10 micron. Finally comes the stock fuel filter.

Picture time. The green thing in the picture is a temp shield for the GoldenRod. I'll have a real one done eventually.

Goldenrod filters are insanely popular on farm barrels around here. They are good filters.

My main issue is there's now way to cleanly mount them. I wouldn't run one as the only filter, but as a primary they're great. I run a spin on type filter from wix/napa, they're $6 apiece and run a long time. No clear bowl or drain though, which some people want.

Not to beat a dead horse, but just remember not to get sucked into the 'micron' game when it comes to filters. A micron rating means nothing without knowing:

a) how efficient it is at that micron rating
b) how they tested it
c) what was the pressure differential when it finally met the efficiency rating you're looking for at that micron level

Just saying. Working as an engineer at a large aerospace filtration manufacturer for a few years really opened my eyes to some of the BS and jargon filter manufacturers like to use.

Thats pretty neat, however I could not use that setup do to it being lower than the frame and when I go wheeling everything has to be above lower frame level as much as possible. I imagine on a NON wheeler, it would be spectacular though for ease of access to view etc.

Nice setup. May look at something like that for the WVO filtering going on at the house!

No, certainly not a wheeler. I've learned about that. I once broke a frame rail on the camper going where I shouldn't. The truck flexed more than the camper, snapped a frame rail where the eye bolt attaches. That's a real poor/weak design, BTW.

My concern with this mounting on the frame rail is road crap. I could have major problems if I run over a thrown tread. It will get better protection before any significant road trip.
