glow plug controler question

hey guys hope everyone is doing well! Wanted to ask I have new glow plugs new glow plug relay the only time that I get the clicking noise anymore is when it is extremely cold 0 or 20 degrees it will click. If it is 35 or 40 no clicking at all and the truck will start right up? Not sure if this is typical issues or if something else is wrong? I remember when I had old glow plugs it would click no matter what the temperature was. Also if I leave everything on my glow plug controller can I put a push button run a wire for my ground putTing it on the same place that the wait to start white wire is that is on the glow plug controller now?

As long as you are getting a long enough initial glow time, I wouldnt worry about it. These controllers all act a little differently. And I have a push button added just the way you describe, with controller still functioning.

Thank you! I think I will put in a push button so I do have it there. usually I hear a humming noise when its not clicking of course when I do let it do a cycle when it is clicking I cannot seem to get the truck started however

There should be 15-20 seconds of relay solid on time with till the wts light goes out at those cold temps

Yea I only get solid relay when it's above 30 has me confused to. If it's 40 I get a great solid relay

I went outside just now had some clicking I did have a little bit of humming lol did two cycles and she started up I will put the push button on just for good measures thank you again!

Here is the cycle time at different temps. It's NOT the ambient temp, but the controller temp. All numbers are in seconds except the degrees. Total cycle time is when you have a light hooked from relay output to ground. Of course this is with a perfect operating GP circuit.
1st Col.=GPC temp.-- 2nd Col.=cycle seconds-- 3rd Col.= total cycle time.

-20F----7 to 15----35 to 70
0F-----7 to 12----25 to 60
35F----5 to 12----15 to 35
70F----3 TO 5-----7 to 15
105F----1 to 3-----3 to 5
140F----1 to 0-----1 to 3
