Looks like turning my fuel down helped a bit. I just got 13.9 mpg doing a bunch of around town driving/idleing/light towing over the weekend. Still a little smokey for my taste, might go down a bit more. Really been considering a Hypermax aneroid set-up.
Travis..
Well guys I was looking into getting stock height tires but still 12.50 wide I put it through a converstion site and a 235/85/16 is equal to a 31.7/9.25/16 so I changed it to a 31.7/12.50/16 and put it back into the system and it came out 318/63/16 anyone ever seen or heard of this size?
A size like that doesn't even exist. Closest you'd find, if anyone makes one, would be a 315/65/16, which is aprx. 0.4" taller; that's just over 1%, not enough to even notice on the speedometer. But a wider tire with the same overall diameter will usually net LOWER fuel economy, because of the higher friction of the larger contact patch.
Do you have some real wide rims you're looking to use?
Yeah I have 16x10 wheels and have 33/12.50's mounted up now and was wanting to go stock hight to have accurate speedo and odo to track mpg accurately. I still have my ford steel wheels but they are pretty ugly that's y I bought the new ones lol. Am I just SOL and should get skinnier wheels to get stock hight? Thanks
Yeah, looks like 315 is about the narrowest you can safely put on a 16x10 rim. I'd be looking for a trade with someone with closer to stock rims who's looking to go bigger.
Remember that advertised size and actual size are different. Tire companies round it.
Also, once it's mounted with weight on it will make a difference.
Measure from the ground to the center of axle.
Multiply that by 2 and you'll get a real tire diameter reading.
Good for choosing the right speedo gear, or calculation for us obs owners with the psom.
