Hello, first post here. I found this floating in my radiator of my 1990 7.3l idi. Anyone have any idea what it is? Ever since i found this my truck seems to run rough.

My guess would have to be a pressure / flow restrictor for your heater core. I'm not sure if these came with them from factory or not though. I have not seen any on my trucks.

Well if it ran better with it in there put it back!

Haha welcome to the forum, looks like a pipe plug to me. Is it rubber or metal?

Why would any thing like that floating around in a radiator have any thing to do with your truck running rough. It can't get thru the Rad core tubes or the T'stat or from the heater core. Pitch it in file 13 and forget about it.

I wondered if it was a piece of a thermostat. Was it in the top or bottom of the Radiator?

What Bill said. It couldn’t have come from anywhere important because it wouldn’t pass by the thermostat or the rad core. May have fallen in on a flush fill. Who knows.

Looks like part of a radiator cap to me. The center part of the cap that seals between the radiator and the overflow vent. The low-pressure valve.

I agree... Looks like someone didn't keep up on the radiator maintenance... Better check yours and see if it may have came from it.
