I thought because my truck is older then 96 and its pre OBDII you need a special scanner, and I was under the impression it was a fairly expensive piece.

Picked up a scanner from Canadian tire for $50, says nothing about the FIPL, it gave me a code for the Overdrive Switch. Today when i was driving the light didnt start flashing right away like it has been, i had to be driving for 15-20 min before it would flash. I almost thought it fixed its self.

I was reading the manual when I was running the test, I know your supposed to click out of overdrive and then back in again when a number flashes on the screen, perhaps I didnt click the button in time? Either way it said nothing about my FIPL...

and no problem Chris, I was in over my head the moment i started pulling the pump on saturday haha

Oh yeah she runs great now, with the stock fuel setting she runs like she did with my old pump turned up two flats. The pump I took out was original with 395k on it, I think it was about time it got replaced haha. I was hoping my fuel mileage would have been much better with the brand new pump but so far it looks to be about the same, maybe its gotta break in a little bit?

I am not sure as my pump is screwed with about 300k on it as well. I found out that my truck actually has 500 000 on it...kilometers that is. I am doing a 1994 IDI turbo swap her this spring/summer.

My own stupid fault. I used to be REALLY efficient on a 4 wheeler, dirt bike or anything like that when I had my own........some 12-14 years ago. I have learned that as you age, your body don't work as fast as you want it to, and you forget things with time. One stupid mistake on a jump and I was done lol. All I did was lay there and laugh my @$$ off.

Dave, on another note I am done fighting with canada post. I get paid tomorrow (BIG pay) so I am going to take the controller to the post office, put it in a bubble wrap envelope and send it by the FASTEST means possible.

I also have to mail Towcat's flexplate, and if you are interested in a couple free, known good FIPL's (at least 2 are good, one is brand new) let me know and I will send them this weekend.

Thanks buddy!

yeah chris I saw your post in the odometer thread, i cant believe they roll back 100k, thats so dumb. I was really looking forward to getting a picture of my truck at 400,000.0 but in 5000k its just gonna roll back! It would be a good time to sell though...

Matt,
For codes go here....
http://fordfuelinjection.com/index.php?p=47

DTC 65 ((R) E4OD truck - cycle OD cancel switch after engine ID is received;
O/D Cancel switch, Overdrive cancel switch did not change state during KOER; is possibly the result of the test being done incorrectly. When you do a KOER test, you need to do a Dynamic Response Check is used to verify operation of the Throttle Position Sensor (TPS)...If you still get the code, then the possibilities are an intermittent harness connection, damaged Transmission Range (TR) sensor, damaged shift solenoid or, and the only internal cause, worn friction elements.

I'm betting I did the test incorrectly, I was reading the book, pressing buttons on my scanner and going in and out of the cab to press buttons and WOT and what not, I'll try again this evening. I also bought a new FIPL, maybe when I install and calibrate it my problems will go away.

New FIPL is in, light flashed again on test drive, unhooked the batteries and parked the truck, hopfully that'll reset the computer and fix my problems.
