This is really a sales ploy to make people buy new cars. It has nothing to do with the environment. If they build something worth buying then I would consider putting my money down, but nothing made in the last 20 years passes that smell test.

I might have tried to make payments on something really inovative and fun like an EV1, but that car was never for sale in the first place, and frankly for the money I would rather build my own.

Yea they've been trying to get that bill passed for a long time. Its been the cause of lengthy discussions on my camaro forum. Word is the new eco gov is going to take it one step farther and make it stand on collectable classic cars as well, to get cars off the street that burn leaded fuel and/or dont pass todays emissions standards. And yes this one includes older diesels like our IDIs. BLAH

they scrapped in in cali for this very reason--guess what--they took a ford stang---and a chev camaro--and with a light tuneup--they produced LESS emissions than the new cars--the guys bought these off the people just before they went onto the property they were to be bought on--those scrappers we mad!!!!! tooo bad--and these were nice cars!!! feinstein and goomer--figures--brainless politico idiots---

My 84' is registered as a classic, never need to smog 'er again and I pay registration 5 years at a time. IF it came down to doing emissions again it's simple - just run a tank dry and pour in a cubie of new canola VO or B100 - it would pass with flying colors...then go back to WMO baby...

The won't get my truck from me! If a vehicle has a GVW of 8,500# in Oregon, it is DEQ exempt, and Bend doesn't even require DEQ/emissions tests anyways, so I'm still good both ways... .

Same here man . I think the only place they actually do do emmisions is multnomah county

Worst case scenario, I will turn the pump way down, and take it in with stated above, 100% vegi or biodiesel. I should be good. Maybe mess with the timing, run it advanced more (more time to burn, I would think that would work....)

They do the DEQ testing in Portland, Roseburg, and Medford from what I've been told. You only have to have them tested if you have the truck registered at an address in those cities though.

According to my boss, (who used to live in Cali) there was a time only certain areas there required the DEQ testing and that his house was in an area that didn't require it, yet two miles away it was required. He said that he let his friends that lived in the "tested" area register their vehicles at his address ("non-tested" area) so that they didn't have to pass the emissions laws.

we arwe lucky here in pa too....the older diesels are emissions exempt....in fact i think its up into the 2000's until they had any kind of requirements for deisels here...

this is one of the reasons im going to build myself a 71 bronco as a DD.....vehicles older then 1975 in PA are emissions exempt.
