Well my truck still doesn't have a fan shroud after posting two wanted ads in the listings section of the forum, speaking to three members who thought they had it but didnt and driving two hours to a junkyard that said they had one set aside just for it to be the wrong style, this is pretty much the last try before just pulling the idi in the barn and parking it for the summer because the Texas heat is just too much without having a shroud, especially with all the traffic we have, So if anyone has a wide radiator fan shroud for a 93 idi or knows someone who has one or knows someones mother's friend that might know someone who has one please please contact me and I will pay good money because I can't seem to find one in Texas, and we don't have a small state. Thanks to anyone that can help! :hail :hail :hail

Ok well I made a dumb mistake, upon further research I have the "tall" rad but 92-97 shrouds were different from any others because of serpentine setup as opposed to the v-belt which ran a different size fan

I find it odd that their MIGHT be 2 different fans sizes... My 89 was v belts till I changed to the serpentine belt design. Never changed the fan nor the shroud. No need to do that. I recall Mel posting something about the 2 different radiators. Of course the short wide rad was on his 83 and it did not have ac. The shroud was a split 2 piece that bolted together in the center top and bottom flanges. the tall narrow rad shroud came as a one piece and best of my knowledge it was a one size fits al. As I said.. I know nothing about a size diff between v belt and serpentine fan shrouds.. But I can still learn something too.

i wouldn't word it like that.it just so happened that the idi engine got the 3g alternator and serp setup during the first year of the 9th gen f-series.1992.
it was mid year technically.in the first half of '92 they still had the old v-belt and 1g alt.however this would not mean those first half of '92's got the old short radiators.all 92-97 diesel trucks got the large tall rad.so in saying all serp belted idi's got the larger fans is only partially correct and doesn't make it an accurate statement.

edit; oh wait.i see what your saying.
so your saying that if you found an 8th gen diesel truck for example and it had A/C and so came with the taller radiator then in this case,it's fan shroud would be different from the 9th gens due to the serp belt setup?
ok.that's interesting.

Its funny how something can look the same but is really not the same.. Until you try to "make it fit" another type or style truck.. Been there too and have the parts to show for it...
