Went to replace a fan clutch on a 1990 7.3l F250, with a new clutch from Hayden, part number 2830 (which is for 83-92 ford diesels)
The OEM Fan clutch has the one large left hand thread nut mounting it to the water pump and 6 bolt holes for the fan to bolt on to
The new one has 4 bolt holes and instead of the large nut to mount to water pump, it has a flat flange with holes to accomodate 4 bolts to mount to water pump pulley. looks to me like a GM diesel fan clutch.
When I internet search Hayden 2830 Fan Clutch, that is what is listed for ford diesels.

Whats going on here? What kind of clutch do I need to get?

You got exactly the correct part but... Its for the big dump truck type trucks or the big S1600 rigs that have an idi engine in them. Thats not for the small lite F250 and 350 pickup trucks.
