Looks like the picture of the new part (dorman 34180?)shows a spacer that might go between the pulley and the bracket based on the application . Perhaps the PO installed it, but tossed the spacer in the “F***” it bucket.

Yeah that is interesting and kind of what I was wondering by finding that part. I wouldnt be surprised if the previous owner never installed it considering the pulley worked fine for a while without it. Guess I will pull the pulley off and take some measurements and see if I can turn up a spacer.
