I personally went to the hardware store and swapped my adapter for a stainless one. Was like $4, but I was able to weld it onto the exhaust as a custom bung, works great.
That probe is fairly short though. Like it was designed for a smaller exhaust.

I just drilled the exhaust manifold and tapped it for the STEEL pipe adaptor. Worked great for many years and is still going.

Ok so I am going to plug the original hole and drill and tap a hole in the exhaust manifold.

Don't sheild to much of the actual "probe/sensor" everything below the threads....
