Exhaust question

I'll be installing my newly rebuilt by Russ Hypermax turbo later this summer.
When I do, I'm planning on removing my existing exhaust and installing a single-pipe exhaust. Does anyone know if this will work?

What would a reasonable price be to have a 4" exhaust system bent from the turbo downpipe to the tip at an exhaust shop?

3-600 depending on mandral or not and what kind of pipe
but most is straight on our trucks so its easy
for that youll need to go up and then to that and youll have to modify ti a bit so the pipes line up plus the lengths are a bit off so youll need to add and subtract where needed

For a single cab truck I would think the 4 inch exhaust without a muffler would cost around $150.00 to $250.00. Nappa sells the over the axle piece really cheap and mostly any ford truck exhaust for a diesel can be easily adapted to your rig. The reducer from your down pipe will be the most costly part... Unless the shop can swedge down the 4 inch to 3 inch.... Thats what was done to mine. Then all I needed was the long run of 4 inch to the over the axle and a couple of hangers. Actually its just one weld... I have a special pipe clamp for the down pipe to the reducer. This way all I need to do is loosen the clamp and the down pipe slides right out easy as pie...

I should have specified my truck is an extended cab.
Thanks for the info on the reducer, icanfixall. That was the only part of the system I wasn't quite sure about.
Since this exhaust will be on a turbo'd IDI, would it be better to run with no muffler? I'd like to be able to hear a nice turbo whistle (if possible).

I bought sections of pipe in 4" some pre bent from Truck Pro and a 4" straight through big truck muffler and it ran less than $150 clamps and all. Any semi truck supply would have what you need.

Run without a muffler. The turbo reduces the sound a lot. The only time the motor will sound loud is when its pulling hard and heavy... Then any rig will be louder when its "working"... Yes, you will hear some turbo whistle but make sure you replace the crapy squished factory turbo down pipe. Its almost flattened completely behind the block against the firewall. Hopefully yours has been upgraded already..

The down pipe has a couple of dents in it, but nothing bad. It's certainly not squished.

well i was conisdering mandrel bent with muffler and adaptor but if you got a 3 in down pipe and run no muffler from a shop mandrel bent 400 would be high
but i shoulda read youre sig i guess
the turbo is a legal muffler in most states and youll be fine noise wise

brandon, just bring your truck over and tell me what you want. I have run stock, 3", 4", 5", dual stacks, single stacks, side pipes and single stacks. Im sure I can fab up yours to what you want. Hell it may be laying around here in pieces.

Napa has the 3 to 4 inch adapter too, I think it's like $18. They can also get a 10ft section of 4in pipe for you. If your hangers are junk, RockAuto has them and good prices.
