any suggestiong on how to get pistons outta a cylinder that are really rusted in?

pb blaster, a rubber mallet is hwo its looking currently.

any suggestions welcome.

You can also use a block of wood and a BFH

that would be my suggestion seems like sometimes that is the only way to go and look at it like this if you have any ill feelings toward this motor now is the time to let it all out

If you want to reuse the pistons(even if you don't it makes it easier) then use a Ridge Reamer.You can get a free Loaner from Autozone(just gotta pay them the retail price then when you return it they give you back your money....Just make sure they give back the tax too!).The rings wear a ridge into the top of the cylinder that is next to impossible to get a piston past.

hmm, popped off the oil pan, looks like one piston is wrecked from the bottom, connecting rod bent, and a bunch of sand/water in here...
this should be interesting

sad really, motor with 98 hours on it.

good part, is after some nice cleaning, looks like the head is totally salvageble, and fuel system checks out just fine.

So... If your not going to use that rod cap and nuts on the bent rod I'll take it. I have a set of turbo rods for cores but one rod was missing a cap when I bought them off Ebay. Towcat was helping me with this but things seem to have gotten lost somewhere. Anyway let me know and I'll pay for the shipping to sunny So. Ca. I just can't stand the thought of ruining a perfectly good rod just to get my turbo set complete. And yes I know the caps are matched to the rods but this is something Ford will deal with when they farm it out for reconditioning.

heh, this cap won't fit your rod....
this is only a 28hp engine.

was from an kubota excavator that was flipped over in a river.
98 hours on the machine.
Insurance paid my friend (he owns a rental place) for the motor, I offered to liberate him of the old motor.

I'm not certain if it's worth fixing right away.... but it needs to get cleaned up, honed, etc and sealed up until I can afford all the parts for it.
