I converted my truck to hydro boost... which got me thinking, the only thing I need the vacuum pump for now is to operate the air conditioner controls which is very low demand.

Anyone ever replace the vacuum pump with an idler pulley and use an electric vacuum pump in its place?

I used an electric vacuum pump from a 99+ superduty for my hvac controls. It was like $5 at the scrapyard.

You probably have electric cruise control but on the older trucks you'd need vacuum for the cruise.

I have a 2009 superduty I drive at work with the 6.4 diesel and it has a small vacuum pump on the driver's side engine compartment to run the auto/manual 4x4 hub system. If you are looking in the junkyard. Probably a lot of 6.4 trucks in there.
