I’m trying to get cruise working on my truck (87 f250 6.9 c6) and it very obviously needs a vacuum canister… looks like somebody tried to fix the rust with duct tape. I ordered a new canister on eBay and I guess I didn’t look closely enough, but it’s smaller than my original canister and the ports look to be for 1/4” vac lines instead of 5/16” - maybe it’s from a gasser? Says it should fit 87-91 f series and broncos but who knows.

Summit and jegs both sell a vacuum canister that may work, but I’m not positive. If I just put different hose barbs on the “new” canister I already bought would that work? Haven’t been able to find any forums to give me an answer on that. My only concern is that it’s smaller so it may not hold enough vacuum to let cruise control work consistently.

First two pics are the canister I bought off eBay, last two pics are the original part

You may be able to return it to the E-Bay seller.

Or plug it in with an adaptor to see if it will work with your cruise.
Iam taking the Cruise out of my 85, never did like Cruise Control.
I`ll take a look and see what I did with it. I can send it to you if
you want.
This truck spent it`s life in the Sacramento, Ca. area before I bought it. No salt used there on the roads.

That would be awesome. Haven’t been able to find another one anywhere. How much for it?

I also go ride of my cruise and all the junk associated with it. I only haul it tow with my truck and never used it.
But for the brakes I used the summit canister that was bigger then original and re plumbed the line. Wow does it work so much better than original. I would never go smaller if youre still running vacuum brake booster, if its just for cruise then smaller is ok. But to answer the question its vacuum with low flow so you can adapt what ever size tubing you need. For cruise control you really dont need much if any reserve. The vacuum canister is really more for brakes so if your motor shuts down you have 1-2 full brake pushes before you run out of power brakes.

I took a look at it today, and looks like it just came out of the box.
I`ll box it and send it to you, just pay me for the shipping.
Up on the top right is a little envelope. Click on it, and you can send me a private message with your contact info, and I will give you mine.
