If you need to regear the rear diff, what would it take to put a later model rearend in place that has the parking brake made into the rotor? Can you get a later model f450 rearend that has the 10 lug axles and has the parking brake out there also? That would eliminate the complication at the transfer case and the driveshaft.

The 05+ f450/550 axle is 10-lug x 225mm.

The 88-97 F450 is 10x7.25".
Well, if he is going to run adapters on the front, can he get an adapter on the front that has the metric wheel pattern? Then run all later model f450 rims?

Hey, they do make such an animal. Thanks for the lug pattern dimensions, it made it easy to search.

I suppose so. They would be 19.5" instead of 16". The axle is most likely a Dana 110 with 4.88 gears.

With a dana 60 up front, it would he a matter of converting the 8x6.5" to 10x225mm.

Not all of the superduty 450-550 use 10 lug. I recently worked on a '01 f550 that had 8 lug 19.5's. It had a dana 110 rear and dana 60 front with 5.34 gears.

99-04 F450/550 are 8x225mm. Afaik, its a mix of Dana 80 and Dana 135s. 4.88 and 5.38 ratios.

05+ is 10x225mm.
