I am putting a 4R100 in my 82, and want to use an inline VSS so that I can use my cluster I have now. I'd like to find a tailhousing for free or real cheap with the cable output in it.

Anyone have one of these on a junk tranny somewhere?

Thanks,
mike

I'm guessing the hole for the VSS is the same as the one for a cable driven speedo.

In a C6 application the trans would use either a cable or a VSS depending ont he year.

I didn't realize that you were over here. Welcome to oilburners....

I think I just need to get this thing apart. I am considering getting autometer guages instead of the ford panel anyway. That would solve my problem.

Do you know where that other thread is you mentioned on TDS??

Just FYI some of these trucks have the VSS sensor in the rear end rather than the tail housing (mine for example).

good luck

It's somewhere in this forum, the title was something about speedo gear I belive. The thread is probably about a month old.

Here's where I am at currently - See the picture below.

This fits right in the 4r100 tailhousing, and drives a cable.

This van has both - one in the tailhousing and one in the axle.
