E4OD hard shift, trouble codes

Finally got around to reading the codes off my '94 E350 Bus conversion. The transmission shifts rough and inconsistently through all gears (It will shift fine for a few shifts, then be real rough, not in any particular gear). The O/D light is flashing, though O/D does work. The button also seems to disable it, but is very picky (I have to press it a few times until it responds and enables or disables OD). I have already replaced the VSS, as that was what the previous owner was told the issue likely was by a shop. This seemed to help, but not eliminate the problem.

The Following codes came up under testing:


23 - TP/FIPL Sensor Out of Range
65 - E4OD truck – cycle OD cancel switch after engine ID is received – Transmissions

Any advice based on these?

Im not sure on 65, but you need to check the tps (FIPL) sensor settings

Don't worry about code 65. You didn't push the OD OFF button at the right time.

Code 23 is the problem. The TPS is out of range, or needs to be replaced.

Ha! Went to adjust the FIPL sensor today, and found it was not even plugged in.. Plugged the connector back I and the transmission shifts like new. No blinking od light either.
