Years ago a guy told me the best place to get a rebuilt E4OD was the Ford dealer. It had all the 95 or 96+ updates and came with a good warranty. Not sure who they require to install it to honor the warranty. But the price used to be not far off compared to other rebuilt trannies.

Not even sure if they still offer the rebuilt E4OD.

Some Ford dealers do. There's Northside Ford in Portland that will. I had the E4od rebuilt in the in laws truck by a mom and pop shop that's reputable to me, so far no issues. But it did cost about $2600

Sorry to have disappeared, I am in an area of the desert with really bad spotty internet.
