never knew a top-side creeper was even a thing until a few years ago.
30 years back, when I was working on these for a living, I wanted one so badly that it almost made me cry. The only ones that I knew of were about $150. Those were the days where if I had $20 left in my wallet by the next pay day, the last one had been OUTSTANDING. There was no way that I could afford one.
Unfortunately, no spare room in my garage to 'store' on of those big top-creepers
I have this problem too. Good thing that I know how to build on to my garage!
Especially when the truck had a brush grille out front as well.
Yep. Those were miserable.

Hi in the Cascades, Nearly- Redmond,Oregon
... never knew a top-side creeper was even a thing until a few years ago.
First Top-Side I ever saw was May '90 when me & Bessie struggled & putted my way down to Dallas, Tx (over on Regal Row) from MtPleasant & with about 400 mi on Bessie & had my first ATS 088 installed on Bessie......

Mechanic had a home made Top-Side Creeper he had made out of a tray looking thing he said he had got from a morgue.......I never forgot it!!

He rebuilt the injectors & pump & also showed me trick way of pulling pump & how to reinstall it...... & how to turn pump up...........Huuuuummmmm.......more on this in
a minute!!!!
So on way back to Mt Pleasant (home) me & Bessie zipped along passing EVERYBODY!!!!
Then July 4, 1990 me, Carol, & 4 young boys pulled out from Mt Pleasant, Tx headed for Oregon, nearly broke, having no idea what we gonn'a do in Or!
Me driving a UHAUL (with 7.3 that run like junk!) pulling a trailer hauling our car, Carol driving Bessie pulling a loaded trailer, & me saying bad things about the way the UHAUL truck was running & pulling!!!!
Got out around Amarillo, Tx & I kept thinking bout that mechanic with homemade Top-Side Creeper showing me how to turn pump up..........Huuummmmm........so rest area stop.........UHAUL pump turned up 2-3 flats!!!!!!
And then we went to RUNNING & MAKING TIME!!!!!!!

I really want one of those top side creepers. In the mean time, I have a step that hooks over the tire, and I usually go at things from the side. I also have a bench made from some 2x12s that's bumper height, haven't used it in a while.
