... working 'over' the engine, getting harpooned by this?
I'm installing a return line kit. That, and replacing the GP Controller are always fun!

Hi in the Cascades, Nearly- Redmond,Oregon
I throw a thick foam knee pad over it. My nuts have never been happier.
@Nero You sure rite about that!!!!
Seems like EVERYTHING I got snags on that thing!! Toenails, lips, beltbuckle, suspenders......
Been thinking bout deleting that thing. Soon I get it figured out how to I'll patent it, then sell idea here on OB cheap!

I use a Harbor Freight moving Blanket folded over. It`s nice and thick and cushie.
Year ago last July when replacing the Hyd Valve Lifters, Push Rods, Valley Pan,
Intake Manifold, IP, Injectors, Hard Lines and GP`s, and upgraded to 7.3 Rockers
I had a lot of lay over time.
When I got my Belt caught on the d amned Hook and I was hung up on it, decided
I needed to do something.

I have gotten some nasty bruises from that thing when I was standing on a stepstool working at the back of the engine bay, and the stool slips out from under me when I lean too far. I’ve definitely daydreamed about a topside creeper!

I started on a pad made out of some rubber mats I had. Similar to those garden kneeling pads or a exercise mat. Anyway I cut it in layers held together with spray glue to go around and cover that spike and over the radiator that I burn the crap out of myself on all the time.

I’m bougie (or however the hell you spell that word) and have a topside creeper. 10/10 I do recommend.
Having my truck since new I've ****** that radiator countless times... never knew a top-side creeper was even a thing until a few years ago.
Unfortunately, no spare room in my garage to 'store' on of those big top-creepers and, I'm a little late in the game to get one now...been on the hunt for another vehicle then, my 1988 F250 XLT Lariat 4x4 will be for sale.

Some great replies/comments... working off a small step ladder I do fold-up a moving blanket with a piece of foam. As it was mentioned about a "top side creeper" I never knew they were a thing until a few years ago. Too late in the game to get one now and I've been hunting for a new vehicle, it'll be time my 'original owner' 1988 F250 XLT Lariat 4x4 goes up for sale.

When I worked at the dealer back in the 80's and 90's I had a chunk of packing foam, the urethane stuff like they make knee pads and things out of that I cut to fit across the whole front, it fit snug down over the latch and filled in the over-grille area to protect both you and the plastic bits. That along with a wide wooden step with rubber feet that couldn't slide out made working on those so much better. Especially when the truck had a brush grille out front as well. The one's I hated where those that came in with the huge double cooler racks, brush grille, and rod racks, it was nearly impossible to get at the motor without removing it all first. Not to mention all the rust that trucks which lived on the beach always had that made working on them so much more fun.
