I just wanted to say that I purchased brand new Motorcraft shoes, installed them, and still had the exact same issue of that lever riding on top of the metal on the shoe. I was actually messing around with this a bit this evening to no avail. It frustrates me that not even OEM shoes allow the parking brake mechanism to work correctly.

I was thinking that maybe I could bend the pawl down just a little bit, but the metal is too hard to bend. I'm starting to wonder if the issue may be with the parking brake mechanism itself, maybe it gets too loose over time or something.

Rust. Anyone ever notice that most of the time the washer at the end of the stud that the e-brake arm pivots on is flaky and almost never flat? Not saying this is the problem, but more likely a contributing factor.
