My left front hub was in need of new bearings, so I replaced them and the new race is spinning hub. This is in a 1992 F250 4x4 Dana 50 TTB. Where can I get a new hub? Does Ford or Dana even support the hub anymore?

Thanks

Take a center punch, and evenly punch several dents all around the ID of the hub. Then drive the race into the hub, that will usually stop it. Locktite also makes a paste called something like "bearing lock" or something, and you can also smear some of that in the hub area and that will stop it from spinning. I am assuming it fits pretty well, just a tiny bit loose. If it's really bad, then yes you will need a new hub.

Here's some junkyards in North Carolina that have some dana 50 frontends for sale. Maybe they will sell you a hub off of one.

The new ones were Timken, when I redid the other side (in July of this year) I used Timken parts and have had some success. Is there a better brand?

So its been a week and a half and I still haven't got this thing back together (other more pertinent issues are dominating my time it seems) and I thought I might try a new approach.

I know that a Dana 60 hub will go on a Dana 50 spindle, at places like AutoZone you can get a reman Hub and Rotor assembly for a 1991 F350, but only a reman rotor for a 1992 F350. My new question is, can I put a pre-1991.5 Dana 60 hub on a 1992 Dana 50 axle.

1991 D60 Hub and Rotor from AutoZone

Thanks

Could always try it...if not fit..take back tell them they effed up...ROFL

I cannot say for certain though I do think that would work ok for you.

You can interchange hubs between 50/60 NOT!!! spindles though.

what are the differences between the d50 and d60 hub?
i have two sitting side by side and I can't see the difference. both are SRW use the same bearings and seals and have the same setbacks. for the races. btw, a oem drw d60 hub and rotor bolted right up on the d50 suspension. the SRW and DRW rotors are different. the SRW rotors are fasteed by swaged in studs and the DRW rotors are bolted onto the hub.

Loctite Stud and Bearing mount will keep the race tight in the hub. Or some loctite Retaining Compound 609 Green which fills a 0.005 gap. Its used for mounting bearings and bushings. Or Retaining compound 680 Green that used to mount gears, pulleys and shafts and it fills a 0.015 gap.... The loctite 271 fills a 0.007 gap. The 277 fills a 0.010 gap. So any of these loctite products wil hold that bearing in place easily. Pity the person that has to remove it next time if they do not know whats holding it in there..

The dana 50ttb uses the same hub and bearings as the dana 60. I know because I had dana 60 dually hubs on my dana 50ttb when I converted it for dually. You should have no problems sourcing a dana 60 hub.

www.rockauto.com lists two front hubs for a '92 F250....

Nick

I can't get conformation from them that either of the two they sell are for D50 (I know they take returns, I just don't like wasting time). I will check later and see if they sell a one for a 92 F350.

By the way I called my local Ford dealership and for future reference Ford no longer can get these parts...for those who don't already know.
