this all depends on the extent of the fire damage.......spent 14 yrs in fiire service and have seen this go 2 different ways

if yer wiring is all burnt and melted then you will need all new stuff but if the wire sheathing is in tact you will prolly be OK

No you will never make it run without electronics......starting with the ECM and all the sensors that feed it

tell me what the aluminum intake air horn lookes like ??????? it melts at 1220*F

man that stinks,,

the motor has less than 50k on it and was hoping that it would be easy and cheap to make i run. How much are all those new fancy electronics? Ive seen some 24vs with the inline pumps put on them, so if you could accomplish that and time it correctly and hook up a manual throttle cable then could you? or are the injectors electronic also? Couldnt you replace those as well, or are they inside the head on this engine?

1st Gen. Cummins are even simpler than the IDIs.

A 1st Gen. can start and RUN with absolutely NO electrical components on the engine, PERIOD.

In a manual transmission truck, the truck can be roll-started and the engine will then run until doomsday, with nary a wire connected, providing the fuel shut-down solenoid has been dis-abled.

An IDI needs at least some of the glow-plugs working to start and electric at the pump-solenoid to run.

1st Gen. and P-pumped 2nd Gen engines sell for upwards of $2500 around here, while electronic 24-valve running engines can be picked up for $1500.
