couldn't bleed rear brakes

I bled the front brakes with no issues, then went to bleed the rears and couldn't get any fluid out of them when I unscrewed the valve. So then I put a drill bit down the bore of the valve and even got inside the truck and really pressed down on the brakes to see if I could dislodge a blockage to no avail so what the heck, guess I will have to get new valves and maybe have to drill out a blockage in the caliper? Any suggestions?

Not for nothing, but i was always taught to start with the wheel furthest away from the MC. then the next furthest away, and so on. As far as the blockage, I have no idea but i'm sure someone will chime in shortly.

Ya start a brake bleed with the right (pass) rear, left (drivers) rear, right (pass) front, then lastly the left (drivers) front. Take the hose off the right rear, check for fluid. You can put up to 2000 PSI on the brake system with the brake peddle, hard to believe no fluid out the rear with the bleed valve removed, gotta be a restriction someplace in the lines. Check the output brake line at the ABS valve for fluid. Just keep the MC full.

I had to replace my bleed screws when I bled my brakes. 3 of the four were clogged. Any parts stores should have them. For whatever reason the front were different than the rear. I guess make sure they're the right ones and they open like they're supposed to.

The bleeder screws are not drilled straight thru. What you did with the drill bit is bottomed out. Remove the screw and see the cross drilled hole in the sides that intersects the center drilled hole. Use the same size drill bit. The taper end of the screw is the seat. As you open the screw bleeder you bring the bleeder off the seat and the fluid flows past it and around the end to the cross drilled holes. Hope that explains whats going on..

ok, that makes sense I always envisioned them with a hole right down the center and a hole along the side of the caliper valve bore. Sounds like I'm going to make a big mess lol. will keeping the master cylinder cap on keep the BF from pouring out?

No. But it won't pour out anyways.

FWIW, I had the same problem on mine. I ended up 'loosening' the bleed screw until them damn thing actually came out. Out of sheer frustration, I got into the truck with the screw out and hit the brakes. Yeah, that did it, lol! Put the bleeder back in and all was well, though something in my methodology caused the ABS light to come on and has been that way ever since.

Last job I had come in like that, the rubber portion of the brake lines had collapsed internally, you could not tell by looking at the exterior line, check your rubber lines if you have any on that brake circuit.

If your bleeder screws are not plugged I would almost bet that the rubber hose running from the rear axle up to the frame where it connects to steel line is collapsing... After about 15-20 years they start collapsing internally... My other 94 got so bad the rear brakes were barely applying, cause a soft pedal too... Its a $16.99 napa part I'd change it
