I read that zerex g05 and the ford gold are equals and the local pep boys carries it. After checking under the hood it seems that the only way to fill is through the overflow reservoir, Is this so. Should I change out my t-stat and if so should I go with a 200 degree stat. I am also considering guzzles filter setup it seems beneficial.

I would change the Tstat. If you go with the 203 degree stat. Get the billet housing. Cost a few bucks. But it's worth it.

After a good flush you can fill it with either Fleetrite or CAT ELC that requires no additives/checking. Plan on spending about $9 a gallon and get 8.

As far as the anti ELC info, I have used both Rotella ELC -in my '90 IDI that went 300k+ mi and CAT ELC in my PSD that is knocking at 300k mi with no coolant/cavitation related issues :hail

I agree with the 203 stat;Sweet the PSD's seem to like the slightly higher operating temps.

just my couple pennies
