how do you know if they need to be changed? I asked a shop and they said that unless they are rusted or broken not to worry about it, but I feel that they have to be worn, when looking at everything else. thanks alot!

I have a like new set off a 85 F-350 that had less than 100,000 when taken off.

Yeah they do wear out after a while. Some shops can recondition them, but if I am recalling correctly than coil springs are not TOO steeply priced.

Yeah, they are really cheap, even at the local parts stores, and they are very easy to change. Really no reason not to, I just feel guilty for spending so much in one day (complete tierods. radius and I beam bushings, and new shocks, and now the new coils)
