Just got started last night on pulling the c6 out of my truck. This may be a dumb question, but what do I do with the vacuum lines going from the injection pump to the trans? Can I just cap them off at the pump, or would I need to remove the VRV?
Hey!!! @hacked89 can use that C6 so don't go casually getting rid of it. He's in Pennsylvania, he drinks raw eggs and runs to downtown Philly to train for crash derby stuff and he's too exhausted after that to shift gears while banging into box Chevy's with his mid 70s IDI powered land yachts! YO @hacked89 , I DID IT!!!!!!

Gotcha. Thanks! One large step closer to getting this rig back on the road. I may need to solve the missing floor problem first though…
It's overrated..... leaving that open creates a better fire escape in case of emergency. And nothing cranks theses trucks up better than a rolling start and popping the clutch, seriously, from dead cold they fire up without glow plugs on a rolling start. With that plate out of the way you can put a foot on the ground and push yourself off like Fred Flintstone, it's brilliant!

But hey, really, great job, and the first time you come out on the clutch in 5th gear and your doing 55-60 and your engine isn't screaming.......the tears will flow freely and you'll put in your Seal cassette and it'll be ".....I believe I can fly......"

Definitely looking forward to not being at 3200 rpms going 70 mph just to barely keep up with traffic. Anywhere I go is at least 25 minutes on the highway so I’m hoping I’ll enjoy the truck a bit better now

The overdrive is wonderful. You can actually have a conversation with someone in the cab and listen to the radio when going down the interstate.

Just think how many less rpms the engine will be turning and how much less wear will be on it between oil changes. So many less rpms per mile.

What I found out also, a manual trans uses the torque of these engines much better than the automatic did. Instead of revving up before it moves, you just put it in gear let out the clutch, without even touching the throttle, you are moving.

No other changes, just going from a c6 to a zf5, I gained 3mpg.

That’s exactly what I’m looking for. I have a 25 minute commute to work on the highway every morning and I hated revving this thing out all the way just to keep up with traffic. But hey at least I know my cooling system is in good shape
