Nice! That's actually not too bad since it's going to be a straight shot from there to the hood access. That's the way I'd do it, measure how far the pickup stick sticks past the tube and then duplicate that with OP's setup. BAM

Unfortunately, I never measured the C6 dipstick on the RV. My 89 has E4OD, so that's probably no help.

I checked the MPC and grabbed these part number sections for you. They're all in reference to C6:

(For those who don't know, 6.9 is 420, 7.3 is 445)
Discovered the white paint this afternoon.
My neighbors think I've gone bonkers, was out there in rain gear draining the atf.
Your comment about the dimple got me thinking.
Cleaned the stick and found remnants of white paint, then shoved that plate down to the dimple and could see where at one time there was something behind it.
Once that reference was found it turned out to be a quart low.

I finally dug up a picture of the C6 dipstick handle, as it was on the 85 E350:

Now, it could be different on a later C6 dipstick.

My 89 has much better dipstick access to the E4OD than the RV did for C6. The oil dipstick is also better to reach on the 89. and the shield piece is sitting differently. Unless the shield is not positioned right.. I'll have to inspect it tomorrow.

Will snap a pic later today, but guarantee that cap has slid back 1" minimum.
Was obviously due to a failed '89 redesign flaw.
Wonder if that flaw was what started the sequence of events that led to the transmission failing?
Makes sense, low fluid plus working hard every day would burn up plates in a heartbeat.
Good thing Ford didn't design the engine...

The sheild on the RVs c6 dipstick got lost somehow, but it got replaced when it got rebuilt. It still had the rubber bushing meant to seal somewhat, but it was shrunken from age. So the shield can come loose for some reason.
