1989 F-250 7.3 IDI The trucks been running fine just hard to start so I figured i would put new GP's in i got Accurate Diesel GP's. I put the plugs in and a day later the truck no start. So I put in a new relay, still no start. TEMP 30 deg. I put the test light to the plugs and 5 burnt out plugs. I have no reason to question the GP's. I opened up the relay it's definitely worn out but no signs of being welded. I have never in all my years heard of a controller burning out a new set of plugs. I guess I have no choice but to put in a new controller.

Any INput???? Thanks in advance

The controller could have held them on to long if they were dual coil plugs. It works off the resistance of the plugs seeing as how resistance changes with temperature.

Where the glow plugs you had in before burnt out?

I don think its the controller.

I bought the same ones, and 3 have burnt out in the first 4 weeks and 1 more within 2 more months.

These Glowplugs are supposedly made in USA. hahaha ..yea right

just so you know...made in USA means nothing... if the part cost $1.00 to make in China, and the USA made box is $0.50 , and the labour to box the china part in the USA costs $.10, that totals $.60 which is 60% of the total cost, and legaly the company can say.....MADE IN USA. ...... Very Deceiving. Somebody correct me if I am wrong, but this is how it is in Canada with our percentage.

In Canada it is 49% of the cost to say MADE IN CANADA. This is what a company did that I used to work for. Yea it is not what it ever seems, and Made in Canada or USA is such a loose term now....

It is great to have a forum like this so we hear about parts that work and ones to stay away from that just suck..

Autolite plugs are the absolute worst! If they have any relation to them, even through second cousins, I would stay far away from em'!
