I be architect'n
I'm kind of looking toward the future here, but will a 7.3l which has been stoutly built (Hypermax turbo, 3" exhaust, stage 1 IP & injectors, and moderate boost...nothing too crazy) every generate enough power to warrant the expense of a BTS tranny? I guess the better question is will a properly built & updated e40d from a local tranny shop, for less money, withstand the abuse good enough?
I know it all depends on the mechanic turning the wrenches, but for this discussion assume that it will be built correctly.
Please let me know if I'm wrong, but it just seems to me that the BTS is overkill for the idi 7.3's that will maybe make 600 ft-lb's totally bombed out, and more like 500 ft-lb's for what I'm looking at doing. But it does make sense in the newer PS strokes that are making rediculous amounts of power.
Now I do like the idea, of never, ever, ever having to worry about the tranny taking a dive with a BTS, but d@mn that thing is almost twice as expensive as a rebuild locally. What do the people have to say?
