As of this morning, ashtray will only open halfway, then hits a hard stop. Didn’t have this issue yesterday. There is nothing in the ashtray to prevent it from opening, and I can’t see what is causing the problem. I was able to remove the two 7mm side screws that secure the ashtray frame, but ashtray still won’t open. I know there is a 3rd screw in back but can’t see it or get to it. Any ideas as to how to solve this? Thank you

Good job. And what's really great about this thread is that I think it a subject that hasn't been attacked before! There should be an award! @snicklas , can you get this gent some recognition for "first time subject matter"? Or are there other ashtray threads out there?

Maybe we can exploit ashtrays like we did "cupholders", I noticed that "floor mats" didn't catch on! So here we go, I'm gonna give it a shot:

Soooo....uhhhh..... what you guys doing with your ashtrays? Lol....

LOL, thanks!! Issue was the PowerPoint 12v outlet and cigar lighter in the ashtray suddenly stopped working. After figuring out how to remove the locked up ashtray, removing and opening up the harness that supplies it, I found 2 wires to the cigar lighter were shorting out. Fixed that, replaced 15 and 25 amp fuses in locations 16 and 9 in the dash fuse panel, and now both power outlets are working again. So at least I can charge my iPhone in the truck. Got a few other issues with it to sort out. So you guys may be hearing more from me haha.

Since I do not smoke, I just removed it completely and used the vacant hole as a place to tuck my flashlight and a pair of 7/16 wrenches that fit the 1/4 inch SS hex bolts that secure my battery cables, all rolled up in a cloth bag and "jammed" in place.
