Antifreeze question?

I've been getting ready for an antifreeze flush on the truck, so I can get some SCA's in it. My normal parts store doesn't carry FLEETCHARGE which is what I want to use, and there is no tractor supply company near by. Napa carries it, but they want over $15 a gallon, and I can't find another carrier of it.
My question is; can I use PEAK brand antifreeze. The jug says it's made by "Old World Industries", the same maker of fleet charge, and it is not ELC or OAT. it is Ethylene Glycol based, and seems to meet the stringent criteria these trucks seem to require for coolant. I wondered if I could just add liquid SCA's to this. I supplied a link to the product in question. Thanks for the advice guys.

I use the NAPA coolant and the NAPA SCA's. Four gallons of green, Four Gallons of distilled H2O and two bottles of NAP-Cool will do your system.

Where in Illanoys do you live? I can tell you where to get the stuff. I use Alliance (AAA03) and add motorcraft "diesel cooling system additive" from the ford dealer. It sucks that it's gonna be crappy this weekend, I'm in the northwest suburbs

I got my coolant from a cummins shop, Fleetguard 50/50 with the SCA's already in it. It's about $18 a gallon though.

Napa's price is fair, and is close to what Tractor Supply charges. Napa is where I bought my last case.

Ahh.. I would cross reference what standards the peak meets. From what I did It does NOT meet diesel engine requirements. St.Louis, just look for a big rig shop

$15 and change at Napa is where I just bought mine. It is Fleet Charge already has the SCA in it and it was not the 50/50 mix. The only weird thing is that it is pink.

Whatever antifreeze you buy, if you are going to add SCA's it has to be low silicate. That's what you are going to be looking for, and that's why you can't use regular green coolant. All regular green coolants have silicates to protect aluminum parts in the cooling systems, and this is not compatible with the SCA's. If your truck is all original, then it does not have any aluminum parts in the cooling system anyway, so the low silicate works great.

If you have a aluminum radiator, you are going to have to use plan B.

Is there an International/Navistar dealer near you?

I understand you can go there, buy a coolant filter and housing that adds SCAs and use low-silicate green coolant and it turns out to be cheaper than the Fleetcharge.

I know I spent $77.00 to get the Fleetcharge

By the way, there is both Fleetcharge and Fleetguard, often confused.;p

if you are worried about the cost, go to wally world and buy their brand (supertech?? I think?), it meets all the requirements of low silicate and yadda yadda yadda, just make sure to buy your SCAs and add them

oh, and don't make my mistake, add the SCAs BEFORE you add the last gallon of water and antifreeze...... THAT was a royal PITA!!!!

I use Fleatguard and its blue in color.... Looks like window washer fluid... It has the sca already in it. I also use only distilled water... Not reverse ossmousis type water.... I run a Rodney Red aliminum radiator too.... Nothing but the best... Thats Robert for the good information on the radiator....

Somewhere I heard that if you were running Ethylene Coolant and switched to Propylene the new coolant would attack the inner (small) o-rings in your Oil Cooler and breach the coolant to oil seal. I also read the labels on the Ethylene Glycol coolant and most name brands I've read are stating "Low Silicate". I use NAPA because I can get it anywhere if I have to.
